Molted crab with lost limbs out of his shell

Question
My hermit crab just molted and today i found him above ground without his shell and his little claw and all of the legs on that side fell off. He moves a little but he cant walk.  he is pale and sensitive.  he wont eat the lettus, carrots or food pellots i give him.  for water i use just regular water puifier.  the substate is coconut fiber and sand.  the humitiy was a little low and it was a little warm.  but now its cooled down and he still wont go into his shell.  I dont want him to die but it appears he will

Answer
This is always a sad situation. There are a lot of reasons why crabs don't make it after a molt. Environmental stress is certainly a factor. Poor diet is another. Crabs need a very diverse diet for them to be able to go through the metabolic changes that help them molt. www.hermitcrabcuisine.com has a list of foods and the food groups that need to be provided.

I'm afraid it is probably too late for your little guy, I wish there was something more that I could do.
