My crab lost his pincher

My new (and only) hermit crab just lost his big pincher and is all slimy.  He isn't dead (yet), but he is obviously not doing too well.  He seemed fine this morning, and i'm at a loss.  What should i do?

What part of him is all slimy? Losing his BP is a strong sign of stress. Is he discolored at all? Has he molted recently.

My best advice would be to give him a bath in double strength salt water and a fresh water rinse but I am not terribly hopeful for him.
