Question
QUESTION: I was at the pet store the other day looking for things to humidify like waterfalls when i came upon a Styrofoam island that produces a little pool of shallow water. This Styrofoam is very mold resistant and can grow natural moss on it but can crabs eat it and get sick?

Also how many times should i be misting and giving the crabs a bath? ive heard a whole bunch of different things from up to 2 misting a day to 3-4 a week. And for the bath ive heard every week. I live in A northern part of my country so it's naturally more cold and i don't know the regular humidity.

Finally how many crabs could be comfortable in a 20-25 gallon tank (still not quite sure how large it is)

ANSWER: Styrofoam - Crabs will systematically disassemble and eat it. The jury is out if it is actually harmful but they certainly don't need to be eating it.

Misting - Misting is really something that is a last resort when your humidity is is crisis. It's not meant the be the main way that a tank maintains humidity. Damp substrate and damp moss are better ways of keeping your humidity stable. It needs to be between 74 and 82.

As long as the crabs have their water pools deep enough for them to get their shells into them, they do not need baths.

Get a humidity/temp gauge. You can get a digital one for $6 at walmart. It's vital to their health.

In a 20-25 gallon I wouldn't keep more that 7-9 crabs.

QUESTION: This is my last question I'm just trying to make a perfect world for these lil guys. I'm stressing out because I'm getting different information form everywhere and this is the last thing. What should i have in my tank set up like how much of what type etc etc the things needed for the tank. I'm also wondering how you can place an UTH under the tank without the tank being lopsided and more up on one end. Please answer this last one thank you

As for the UTH, your heater should come with little feet stickers for your tank or you can place it on a stack of 5-7 pennies taped together.
