Hi Andy, last week i checked on my 10 month old GP and found tt his top right and bottom left teeth were chipped off.  The bottom one was chipped off close to the gum.  I think it is normal but this is the 1st time i see 2 teeth chipped off at the same time.

Few days later i checked again and was relieved that both have grown quite a bit.

However, last night when i checked, his other bottom right teeth is gone!!!  Leaving him with only 2 top teeth, like a bunny.  I was worried whether he is able to eat so i put some dried food for him and monitor him for the next few hours.  He seems to be ok, but not eating alot of the food.

May i know what i can do to make sure he is able to eat well till his teeth grows back?  Why are his teeth chipped off so easily? Is it due to his diet?  I do feed them Vit C tablets, hay, fresh veggetables.  Also he is on the skinny side, have not been able to put on alot of weight since i bought him in May 2004.  Any recommendations on food that will pump his weight up?

Looking forward to your reply soon.

Thanks!

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer

I would just try giving slightly more food in order to make him a little bigger!

With regard to teeth, you do the right thing in monitoring him to make sure he is eating properly, but it may also be wise to have a look inside his mouth to make sure that his broken teeth have not given him any sores that will stop him eating.

Try him with some carrots, which, under normal circumstances, he should eat straight away, and you will also get a good idea if he is having trouble eating.

Hi Andy, thanks for your quick respond.  I've checked and there are no sores in his mouth.  He does not like carrots, i gave him some wheat grass and he ate them all, he was eating his dried food when i refill them this morning.  Guess this means he is ok?  I inspected his teeth and it has grown a little bit.  A friend said he lacks of calcuim thats why his teeth chipped, is this true?  If it is, then what food that are high in calcium should i give my GP?

Thanks again!

Answer
Hello again my friend

Yes, this means he is ok. It is good to hear that he is happily eating his food.

Foods rich in calcium are brocolli, turnip. Also, why not try giving him small amounts of breakfast cereals, but not the ones with sugar in. Your friend is correct about the likely cause of the teeth problem but your piggy will be fine.
