Question
Hi,
I will be getting a GP in the next few months so this is my time to do all my research.  I was going to get 1 but the more I read, I am now considering getting 2.  I really don't know yet.  My question is, I have heard that the cube and chloroplast cages are best and I'm willing to make one. (it might even be fun =) ) I'm wondering how easy they are to clean.  I have also heard that you shouldn't keep the cage on the floor.  Is this true?  Thank you so much for your time.

Cube and chloroplast cages are fine, just be careful that the cubes' paint aren't going to chip when chewed.  Guinea pigs are serious chewers, so if you can find bare metal cubes, that would be best.  Also, try to avoid unnatural dyes in your chloroplast.

I can only think of a couple of reasons not to keep the cage on the floor.  First, drafts.  This is simply solved by not leaving the cage near a entry door.  Second, rodents and other pests.  If you don't have them, they won't be a problem.  I personally have my house guinea pig in a cage on the floor in the living room, and she's moving into her third year there without ever having a health problem, so I'm not overly concerned about leaving her there.

Hope this is helpful.  If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact me.  Good luck!
