Question
Hi, again

I forgot to ask some questions about pregnancy.  Where should I put he males. When should I start giving away the guinea pigs.  about how many pups will she have (her stomach is like as big as two fists)? when the babies are not weening what should I feed them? Should I feed them hay? Do I seperate the females from the mother?  sinse my guinea pig lives in the TV room where it is kind of loud should I mover her? Should I keep my dogs away from her?  Will she try and bite me if I touch the babies?

~THANKS AGAIN!!

You should keep the males in a separate cage until you can sell them or give them away.  You may start giving them away as soon as they are weaned, but I do not recommend giving them away too young.  Try to wait until at least 2 months or so.  I cannot predict how many pups she will have, and no one really could.  You should probably just take a "wait and see" attitude about that.  After the babies have been weaned, they will eat the same food as the mother, alfalfa pellets, fruits, and veggies.  You do not need to separate female babies from the mother unless you want to, and you do not necessarily need to take the guinea pig out of the TV room, although I probably would.  Yes, you should keep the dogs away from her.  Being frightened would not be good for her at this point.  She will not try to bite you if you touch the babies.  See, the babies will be born fully able to take care of themselves.  They will have hair, their eyes will be open, and they will be able to walk immediately.

Hope this is helpful.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any more questions.  Thanks!
