my Guinea pig has a lup on his back.

My Guinea pig has a lump on his back and there is white stuff coming out of it. is That really really bad??? If so how do I cure it???
Please help.

Hello,
It sounds like your guinea may have an abscess, it may NOT be an abscess so I would suggest you get her check out. The discharge (white stuff) indicates infection. The problem with abscesses is that the infection can easily spread internally. If that happens, the infection can be life-threatening. The first thing you should do is to take her today to a vet who is familiar with guinea pigs.

If you want to try home treatment for a day or two first, soak a cloth in very warm water. Wring it out, then hold it on the abscess for about five minutes. Do this two or three times a day. This may soften the pus and allow it to drain more freely. Afterward, clean off as much as you can, and apply a triple antibiotic ointment. After a day or so, if the pus has a runny consistency instead of being paste-like and is more clear in color, you can continue with this treatment. If it still looks the same then definately go to the vets. If your guinea becomes lethargic or loses her appetite then take her to the vets immedietly.
