Guinea pig shakes

Question
My guinea pig had her first liter in January. I suspect she is pregnant again. When I pick my guinea pig up she shakes and tries to jump out of my hands. She usually lets me handle her. I am wondering why she does this.

Answer
Are you housing her with a male?

Breeding is risky and most of the time unneccesary but she should at least have 5 months rest between litters. Each pregnancy will decrease her lifespan even if she survives the pregnancy.

Does she make any noises when she shakes like purring?

She may be uncomfortable with being handled, try to handle her more to get used to you.

Or she may be sick. How does her fur look? How does she act otherwise?

You may want a cavy savy vet to look her over and make sure she doesn't have mites or anything.

You may want to read over http://www.cavyspirit.com/breeding.htm and www.petfinder.com if you ever want more gps. There are many homeless guinea pigs out there.
