Head shaking and jumping

I just got my guinea pig about a mounth ago. Resently he's been doing this wierd thing where he shakes his head sideways and jump out of nowhere all the time. At night when ever I turn the lights out he has a spaz attack and runs head first into the side of his cage. Do you think it's brain damage, fleas, or something else?

there are a few things that this could be. for starters i would clea out the cage and spray a watered down disinfectant, i would also give the guinea pig a bath and use an anti parasite shampoo for rodetents. I would also use an ear drop designed to tackle parasites in guinea pigs.

the most common and likely cause for acting like that is the discomfort from parasites, if you give him a wash and clean out the cage and he still acts the same way then you need strogner treatment and should take him to the vet.

try not to worry it is very common and most owners tend to build up their own medical kit,shampoo ear drops and mange sprays will eventually be bought.
