Question
i don't know how old my guinea pig is... how do i find out?

Answer
Knowing the true age of a guinea pig is sometimes difficult.  If they're very small it's fairly easy. Babies are usually about 8-10 oz when they're weaned at 4 weeks. Some are larger of course, so this is just a general guideline.

They are considered 'senior' or adult pigs at six months and typically weigh about 32 oz. Of course there are some pigs that never get over 32 oz and some that reach that weight by four months old.  It depends on their genetic background.

If they're over a year and a half their front toenails tend to turn and take on a twisted shape. This seems to occur even if the nails are cut regularly. The back toenails begin to thickend and are tougher to cut.

Unlike a horse you can't tell much by their teeth, since the teeth grow continuously all of their lives. An older pig (over two) will take on a bit of a pear shape and get a bit of a pot belly.

Other than that Andrew, I can't really give you anything more detailed that would pinpoint the age of your pig.  I hope this helps you a bit.
