bladder control

Question
Hello,
I am so happy that I found a site catered to guinea pigs.
Here is my question.  I have spent over 1,000 $ on trying to find out what is wrong with my GP.  I tried using sea salt (that didn't work).
Tried all with the vet and now we're going to go thru an exploratory surgery next week.
The problem is quite simple (I think).  Our GP has been urinating on hereself and cannot seem to clean herself as she is always wet (I clean and wash her every nite).  All has been done with the vet.  She is almost 9 years old and our joy.  I noticed that when she poops it sometimes get into her fur and so I just started clipping her fur (rear-end of course).  I thougth perhaps she was infected with something but to no avail.  I does smell...but what can it be.  She is eating quite well but does not run around like she use to.
Please help me...
Sincerely,  Estelle

Answer
Hi Estelle

First of all, your piggy is very advances in years. The average pig lives between 4-8 years. It might be a simple fact of old age. With humans, the bladder is something that gets affected with age.

Perhaps also the fur around the place she urinates from might have grown too long which causes it to get into her fur.

Hope that helps.
