Question
Thank you for such a helpful answer about my guinea pigs. I'm pleased the girls can stay together and look forward to our little piggies arrival.

I was wondering if you knew whether they can eat spouting seeds or bean sprouts as they eat so much and I thought it would be good to grow some if they are good for them. But the books don't seem to mention them. I did discover I can feed them cress, parsley and corriander - do they like any other herbs I can grow inside on a window for them?

many thanks,
amanda

Answer
Sprouting beans are not too good for them, most guinea pigs will not eat beans any way, they are good for birds however. They do however like green benas either fresh, frozen or from a can. They also like parsely, just try not to give them parsely until the end of their term of after they have their babies because it can stimulate labor. Guinea pigs love cleavers, cornsilk and dandelion, they can also have garlic and yarrow. Some of their favorite veggies are kale, collard green, green pepper, cucumber, leaf or romaine lettuce and tomato. My guinea pigs love parsely so I would stick with that, also grass, like the pet grass that you can buy at pet stores to grow in your house.
