Followup To we are not even sure that she is pregnant.the male was in the same cage for almost a whole year and no babies yet. my vet did a skin test and it came back negitive for lice and mites. it is not ring worm because  the patches of hair that have fallen out are not circlular. there is alot of white flaky dandruff. this is what we are treating him with trimethoprim sulfa 480 ml,and ecto soothe 3x shampoo. what do you recomend we do for her to keep from getting worse.
Question -
we have 2 pigs. One reaceantly developed a skin fungial infection. when we bought him he was a girl. we are treating him with antiboitics and a
medicated bath.

our problem is our girl may be pregnant and has the beginings of the same type of infection.

our vet is unsure of what to do because she may be pregant, and both the antibiotics and the medecated shampoo recomend not to treat for prenant animals.

what can we do for her .

         thanx mark
Answer -
What kind of fungal infection is it? Lice, mites, ringworm?
How far along is the sow ?
Answer -
Are you sure one is a female? Being together a year without babies is very rare, and usually never happens.
If the vet couldn't determine what kind of fungal infection they had, is it possible they have Scurvy? Do they get vitamin C? katie, the pig is prego and they get plenty of vitaman c in their water and in food we feed baby carrots and romain lettuce plus apples. thier store bought pelets has vitmans in it also.thanks for your  help. i bought an organic oatmeal shampoo to was her with.
i hope this works. she is nowere as bad as the boy was.

Answer
Ick, ack! Vitamin C degrades rapidly in water and in light, please do not put any of this or other vitamins in their water. Yes, there is vitamin C in their food, but that doesn't have a long shelf life and there really could be little to no vitamin C left.
Do not use or buy any food that contains a lot of other vitamins as they only need Vitamin C.
They need more variety of vegetables in their diet.
