general guinea pig stuff

My guinea pigs cagemate recently passed away, and lately, my guinea pig has been acting very depressed, so we got another guinea pig that she seemed to like. Lately, the two have been rumbling from deep in their throats, and moving their back ends very slowly when they rumble at each other. Is this a dominance issue and are they getting ready to fight?

What you describe is a dominance issue at the moment. If they get to the stage where their teeth start chattering and they face each other with heads raised, its time to intervene. At the moment though, just keep an eye on things and the behaviour should settle down when they have decided which pig is boss!
