QuestionWe have 2 guineas from the same litter. They have been happily living together in large cage for the last year, but recently have began fighting. Yesterday it got quite bad and I separated them into two cages. Since the separation, both have seemed quiet and withdrawn, but I'm nervous about putting them back together- the more dominant one seems to not give the other one any peace. What can you recommend? Stay separate or reunite?
AnswerHi Tracy
It is much more unusual for females to fight than males but not unheard of. Females can also be somewhat territorial.
I would be tempted to try to re-unite the two pigs, but on neutral territory as if you can get them to live happily together again then it will be much better in the long term.
If you can think of anything that has changed in their living environment please let me know, for example as a boy pig been anywhere near the two girls?
Good luck
Andy
