Losing Teeth Due to Fall

Question
My 9 mo old guinea pig suffered a fall 1 week ago and has just lost her 2 top front teeth.  What do I need to do?  She seems to be drinking ok and 'seems' to eat pellets & hay ok, but can't bite into baby carrots, cut-up celery or pieces like that.  I have been told several things, like remove her bottom teeth, just watch her bottom teeth so that they don't get too long & hurt her, she will/won't get her teeth back.  I'm really worried about her!  It's hard to find a vet that knows about cavies.  Please help!

Answer
Hi Wendy,
If your guinea pig is healthy and can still eat and drink fine, then she will be fine. Her teeth can/will grow back if she has enough vitamin C in her diet and can still eat. Do not remove her bottom teeth, she needs them and the top will grow back pretty quick! Just make sure she can eat, and cut her fresh food into very small bites.
Good Luck and keep me updated.
