introducing new piggies

Question
I currently have 2x young male piggies. They live indoors and have a huge hutch
and play area. As i love them sooo much i want to introduce some new piggies
into the family. I was thinking of getting a couple of female piggies to keep
them company. I don't want babies so i would get them neutered first but would
it be fair or safe to do this as i don't want them to start fighting again for
the Alfa male position. They have not fought for a couple of months now. what do
you think?

Answer
Hi Emma

When male's are neutered they are given a general anaesthetic which is always dangerous for such small animals. For this reason I recommend you dont introduce further piggies.

The 2 males will give each other plenty of company. If however you want more piggies because, like me, you love them, you would have to consider getting a separate hutch for any new arrival.
