Question
Hi,
I am suspecting an upper respiratory infection on my guinea pig. She has a runny, crusty eye and is not eating or drinking as much. Her age is unknown as she was found as a stray and adopted from the humane society. I am unable to find a small animal vet in my area. It seems like most of them only treat cats and dogs. Is there anything I can do to treat her at home?
Irene

Answer
yes
first off remove any sawdust and dusty hay

seondly keep him in a reasonably warm, and dry place, you dont want any cold drafts or high humidty.

next you will have to treat jhim with Imec or Baytrill, check on Petergurney's website for ratios of the treatment per weight of a guinea pig

you can buy treatment on either Amazon or probably ebay.

give them a recommended doesage treatment for two weeks and he should be as right as rain.
