Question
I bought one of those big plastic balls for my guinea pig to run around in.  I don't know if he doesn't like it or just is not sure what to do.  He just sits there and sniffs around, I tried moving it while he was in it to show him that he can move but he still just sits there.  What should I do?

Answer
Hey Natasha,

Piggies to not take to running around in plastic balls as quickly as hamsters do. Piggies are far more wary, and the new toy will feel unusual to him and he may be a but scared at first, so his hesitation is perfecty normal. Im sure he'll get used to it in time.

However, if you want to try and encourage him, you can buy plastic 'tracks', like railway tracks, for your piggy to roll his ball around on.(These are normally sold for hamster balls but are big enough usually for g/pig balls too) - it would guide him in which direction to go, and get him used to rolling around with ease - the tracks may give him the encouragement he needs. Then he can work his way up to rolling around without tracks, when he has enough confidence.

I hope this helps,

Jo
