making guinea pig feel more comfortable

Question
Hello,
My twoish year old male guinea pig was just diagnosed by the vet to have conjunctivitis.  I am force-feeding him special food, and giving him antibiotics. He is not behaving at all like normal, and his hair is all poofed up.  He did get a Vitamin C injection, an antibiotic injection, and fluids SC last night, and went in an incubator as his body temp was low.  I am worried because he still hasn't pooped or peed, and is so unlike himself.  How can I make him more comfortable as he gets better?  And how long is too long for him to go without pooping or peeing?  Thank you!

Answer
Hello Julie,
To get him "pooping and peeing" try giving him, if you are not already, plenty of fresh hay, this helps balance out and keep a steady flow through the digestive system!

Try not to over handle him - don't want to stress him

but obviously don't neglect the poor chap!!

He doesn't sound right, you're spot on, but when a guinea pig is ill there isn't much you can do, just keep everything at points where he is happiest!

Good luck Julie and your little chap, I'm sure he will pull through and be back to his old self in no time at all!!!!!
