Question
I have a female guinea pig that is gray and wight and she is a short haired and I put her with my male guinea pig that is tan and wight and he is has either long hair or medium his hair stands up in rosettes style. And I put my girl with the boy about 4-6 weeks ago and now she has a pear shape to her stomach and her stomach is hard. She is eating a lot and drinking a lot. She does like to run around my room I let her out every day. She doesn't like me touching her stomach a lot.I feed her Big Red guinea pig food and some carrots. She has two water bottles.Do u think she is pregnant? Do u think the babies will be long haired like the dad? What should I be feeding her? What should I try to feel in her stomach for the babies?

Answer
Hi nick, Your guinea pig is pregnant between 28-42 days at 42 days you can feel the babies moving. What you should do is every day give her a treat and try to feel he sides and stomach, she might get a little upset, but when you can feel the babies moving around she will be delivering soon within a couple of weeks. Guinea pigs are like humans they get half their traits from mom and half from dad so its hard to say, some might be long haired some might be short or they could be a mix. Make sure she has lots of water and fresh fruits and veggies and now you should buy her some alfalfa because it has alot of calcium dont feed her more than a handful a day and make sure she has access to timothy hay at all times. You should separate the dad from the mom as soon as the pups are born because even though the piggy just gave birth she can get pregnant again almost immediately.
Hope this helps
