pregnant guinea pig with another female

Question
i got a pregnant guinea pig her names daisy had her about a month and a half. shes bout 4 months old and most likely having her babys sometime this month, i give her a lot of vitamin c b giving her strawberries, tomatoes and other fruits and veggies that have vitamin c in them in a big cage with a nice box that she likes 2 b in most of the time and i read so many sites that i have to separate other guinea pigs from the pregnant one. so i did, daisy in my room so she doesnt get stressed out and all and pepe in the living room. but pepe my other female guinea pig shes at least 7 years old and since i separated, pepe wasnt eating much wanting me a lot more and lost weight and sometimes she would have this weird smell on her and would be wet from under her mouth chest to her front legs. i even tryed feeding her a strawberry she didnt want it. i had her separated from daisy for about a week so i put her back in with daisy last night and she seems a lot more happier they both lay by each other, talk and all that. i know pepes old and she can die anytime but i want her to be happy and content when she does go and daisy to not be stressed out and be depressed like pepe was.

my actual question is if i should keep them 2 together or find another way to separate them

thanks

Answer
geberally, and by generally i mean 99% of the time, it is actually better to keep another female with a nursing one. they become the aints and uncles and help out with the babies, often if they are lactating they will even co-feed the babies, it is fine to leave them together. i would however cut down on the sugary fruit and veg you give them, as a rule guinea pigs should have dryer veg and less sugar, so things like carrots, spinach and parsley etc are great. i would only give strawberries in very small amounts and occasionally, it is too sweet and watery.

but getting back to your main question, yeah as long as they get on i would say it is better for both of them to be with each other.

ps. sorry about the time it took to reply my internet has been down.

best of luck
