New very nervous hamster

Question
Hi, I got a new female syrian hamster about three weeks ago. In the shop she seemed very friendly but after bringing her home, she gradually became more withdrawn. She's getting less nervous and is coming out more but still hasn't established a 'wee-corner' yet and is wetting the bed (something I've never had happen before). We had to move her out of the cage to clean it but when we went to move her into a temporary box, she totally freaked out, bit VERY hard and jumped off onto the floor! She's a very muscly stocky thing aswell (huge for her age I think) which makes it difficult to get a grip on her aswell.

Should we just leave her alone for a bit to adjust? Is she just nervous?

Thanks for your help.

Answer
Dear Sam,
thank you for your question.
I think that she just needs time to adjust. If you have to take her out of the cage, use a cardboard box and let her walk into it by herself or gently shoo her inside. Offer her treats from your hand and put your hand into the cage without picking her up, so that she gets used to your smell.
If she continues to use her nest as a toilet, you can try to offer a second house or put a toilet where the nest is now, maybe she gets the idea then.
I hope I was of some help to you
Jennifer
