Can you put eyedrops in your hamsters eye?

I was wondering if you would know how much the visit to the vet would be, my mom doesnt really want to spend that much money since she is getting old?-------------------------------------------

Hello,

I was wondering if you can put eye drops in your hamsters eye? The reasoning of me asking is because one of her eyes is half shut, the past few times i have gotten her out. I know i should probably take her to the vet but she wont sit still for that. I went with my guinea pig once and my vet hurt and traumitized him. I love her to death but it is a lot of stress to put on her when she is almost one year old. I also know she is not blind in that eye because its not milky white or any other color. My aunt that went to veternary school for a little bit said they could but i am not sure.Please reply soon. Thanks!

you must take it to a vet immediately it may be an eye infection which can cause a death if not properly treated. the veterinarian would probably give you a antibiotic cream to use if it is an eye infection.

My nephews hamster died of this because they tried to treat it at home and waited to long to take it to a vet.

I suggest you try another vet immediately 1 bad experience with a vet (or doctor) does not mean that are all bad trust me on that


the drops would do no harm but probably no good

Contact your local vets you can just call one out of the phone book ask if they treat hamsters and ask how much a visit cost.
the medication my hamster got wasn't expensive the cost was mostly in the visit.

Your hamster is not particularly old it could have another 1-2 years. If you cant pay the full price ask about a payment plan  
if possible or if all else fails and your hamster gets sicker look into an animal shelter that may take care of its medical needs
