Answer
Hi Lucky's Mommy -

I could spend a lot of time guessing what might be wrong with Lucky, but it's not going to help him one bit.  This ferret needs to see a ferret vet NOW.  The symptoms you are describing could well be indicative of something very serious - please get him to a vet right away.

If you don't have a vet, please write back with your city, state and zip code and I will try to find an exotics vet in your area.  Anytime a ferret acts sick, it means they are really really ill.  He *could* even have low blood sugar, so if he happens to lose consciousness before you get him to a vet, you can rub some honey, syrup, anything really sweet on his gums to try to revive him on the way to a vet (emergency).  Other than that, there are several other things this could be indicative of - all require a vet's treatment.

Please get this little one to the vet A.S.A.P.    You are an angel for rescuing this little one, but if she doesn't get good vet care and soon, you are going to lose her. :-(
To answer your question - YES, you can feed her chicken or turkey MEAT babyfood between now and when you can get her in to see the vet, but you must not delay in getting her in and examined. You can also give her pedialyte from a dropper if she won't drink it herself - my kids like grape and bubblegum flavor best (grape Propel is awesome and my kids will chase me down for it). It also helps replenish their electrolytes, which is very important if she is not eating or drinking.

Being off balance could be something as simple as an ear infection, or something as serious as insulinoma (tumors on her pancreas that mess up her blood sugar levels and can quickly kill her).  Please, please don't delay in getting her to a good vet?

Please let me know what you find out at the vet?  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your little precious one.

Sincerely,

Jacquie Rodgers
