Answer
There 's absolutely no way for me to tell from here what could be making your ferret sick. The most common problem from what you are describing could be a possible intestinal obstruction, which is deadly if not treated by a vet. \

I recommend getting this ferret to a vet as soon as possible - I mean hours or a day - not days or weeks. With ferrets they can absolutely go from healthy to dead in a matter of a couple of days when they stop eating and start going down hill like this. Please don't waste any time in getting him to help.

Here are lists of vets in Canada if you don't already have a vet:

VETS CANADA:
* http://www.ferretrescue.ca/start.php
* http://tinylink.com/?TlVyYKa6e0
* http://www.ferrets.org/Veterinarian_Listings.htm   (British Columbia)
* http://www.ferretcentral.org/for-others/db-vets.html
* http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/sask_ferrets/

Between now and when you get him in, please try to get fluids in him. Warm chicken broth (NO SALT) may appeal to him - dip your finger in and put in his mouth or use syringe to drip in his mouth and get him started. Dribble Ferretone or Vivify or other oil on top of warm water or broth to encourage them to drink (be sure he doesn't drink more than 1/2 tsp of Ferretone or oil in 2-3 days or it will make him sick in  itself.

Best of luck - please don't wait to get to the vet!

Sincerely,

Jacquie Rodgers
