Question
my ferret just got sick within the past couple days.  i couldn't find her for a day, the next day she came back to her resting spot and slept all day long.  i came in to check on her but she was really tired.  i took her to the vet in the morning because she didn't look so good, i got the feeling she had eaten something bad.  They couldn't find anything wrong with her.  they wanted me to take an xray if she didn't get better or send in for some more blood work.  it's getting pricy and they don't have a clue whats the matter.  i read your post 1/2009 about your ferret bruising, when i checked her and changed the pad i had beneather her, she has a bruising exactly like yours and she will not get up to go to the bathroom.  did you figure out what was wrong with your ferret, i need to know what to have the vet do for her to keep her with us.
thank you,
brandy

Answer
The owner of the ferret with the bruising never gave me an update, so I am not sure how that turned out. You should have x-rays an blood-work done, especially if she is no better.  I wish I could be of more help, but this needs further diagnostic tests by your veterinarian. In the meantime, it is essential that you monitor her eating, drinking and activity level.  Ferrets need to eat every 4-6 hours and can waste away very quickly without food.  Dehydration is also just as dangerous.  If she is not eating/drinking you need to bring her in ASAP.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
