Question
My ferret seems very bored.
Since my older siblings came home from university e is no  longer able to run about the house as they're scared of him. He is confined to my room, or outside which at the moment is too wet to play in. Do you have any ferret proof ideas for a run, or play area i could buy reasonably cheaply, or even things i can do to keep him entertained in my room as there is a big area of floorboards where hes scratched the carpet up. Please help, i feel hes being almost neglected of he right to play as he gets so bored with one room.
Thanks Leonie.

Answer
Once a ferret has gotten used to the way things are in his house, it's very hard to change that. It's also very hard to get a ferret to stop digging at the carpet once he's started. I think it would be much easier to have your siblings get used to him and not be scared of him, so he can run around the house like he's used to. Tell them that ferrets have been domesticated as long as cats have, and that he never bites and is very tame. Remind them that a person is 1,000 times more likely to be bit by a dog than a ferret.
