Answer
Hi Betty:

I just saw your question in the question pool and grabbed it up :-)  Sorry I was maxxed out for your question.

Yes, you can use ANY brand of ferret or cat laxative. You can get it at ANY pet store, even grocery stores will have cat laxative in the pet aisle.  I have found that my kids like the malt flavor more, but it also comes in tuna flavor (more for cats I think).

This laxative is basically flavored vaseline.  If you prefer, and you have it, you can just put several drops of FERRETONE or FUROTONE (the liquid that ferrets love) and mix with about a teaspoonful of clean, pure vaseline (petroleum jelly) - the type you possibly have in your medicine cabinet.  Surprisingly, they will often eat just the vaseline by itself (just make SURE that it's pure petroleum jelly with nothing else added to it and that it is fresh).  This stuff wraps itself around a partial blockage and will sometimes move a partial blockage thru.  If there is a full blockage, it won't do much - nothing will except surgery.  You will know if it's a full blockage because she will stop eating and drinking and will be very very sick; she may vomit, paw at the roof of her mouth (which means she feels sick to her stomach).

Hope that helps....

Sincerely,

Jacquie Rodgers
