Ferret post-surgery;sleeping

Question
My ferret was attacked by a dog three nights ago. He had surgery to repair a punctured and collapsed lung. We have him home now;he's eating good and drinking. I am concerned about his sleeping, though. He never sleeps this much. Is it just his way of dealing with pain and recovery or is it something to watch. When he is awakened, he does not move around much different than normal and even decided to try and play in his beloved bathtub (not quite ready for that yet). i think he's O.K but I'm needing reassurance.

Answer
Rhenda,
Ferrets need to sleep after surgery as it is really hard on them especially with a punctured lung.  I can understand your concern.  As long as he is eating and drinking and going to the bathroom I wouldn't worry.  He'll need to recover from not only the surgery but from being stressed by the dog attack.  I'm sure he'll be ok.  They are pretty tough.
Let me know if you have any more questions.  I hope this has helped you feel better.
