Ferrets and mosquitoes

Question
Hello! Lately, there have been a lot of mosquitoes in our home. Will they bite my ferret? Will it hurt her?
Also, my mom has put some roach traps around our basement...if my ferret accidently ingests it or sniffs it, will it harm her?

Any answers will be appreciated! Thanks!

Answer
Hello Nataly,
Sorry about the delay in answering, my Internet was down. Mosquitos can carry infectious viruses that can be potentially harmful to your ferret. They can also carry heartworm disease, so you will probably need a preventative. BIOSPOT makes towelettes for
repelling fleas and mosquitos. Here is a link to the website, and maybe you can find those at your local pet store (Or you can ask your vet what he suggests):

I don't recommend putting your ferret on actual heartworm medication, due to a lot of ferrets have adverse reactions to these. IF you do, however, I would use Ivermectin.

Also, the roach traps can be poisonous, and if ingested, can be harmful or fatal, due to your ferret would not be able to vomit in order to expel the poison. It is a good idea to move your ferret to a safer area of the house,or not allow your ferret access to those areas that have roach traps.
Thanks for your patience, and good luck!
