Question
Hi. Please Help! I recently found a ferret outside my apartment and we took  him in. He is fairly young I assume but the problem is he gets overstimulated for no reason and bites my two cats and two dogs and my husband and I. When I am playing with my dog he bites them. Even if they are laying on the floor. He also jumps at me and then hangs on the back of my pants. I like him but he is terrorizing the household and I dont want to give up on him yet. Anything you can suggest to save us? Thank you!

Answer
You need to make sure you have taken him to a ferret vet in order to make sure he is healthy, especially since you have other animals in the house.  They should also be able to estimate his age and possibly the time he was outside.  I am assuming this is your first ferret?  If so, purchase or borrow from the library the book Ferrets for Dummies.  It is a great resource for all ferret owners.  Once you have taken him to the vet and have a rough age estimate, I can assist you further.  It will be challenging to figure out why he is biting, but age, health and prior experiences will impact his attitude.
