Playing too rough?

Question
Hi, I bought a younger ferret (6 months old) named Rascal to be a playmate for my older ferret (around 2 yrs) Bandit. When playing, Rascal bites way too hard, people and bandit. He also drags Bandit across the floor by his neck and Bandit will just lay there. Sometimes one of them makes a squeaking sound like it hurts, and often Bandit's tail fluffs up like a cat's does when alert or angry. And Bandit will then grab Rascal by the neck and thrash him back and forth like a toy, but they don't hiss or squeak at this point. I can't tell if they are just playing rough or really fighting, please help me. And can you give me advice on how I can teach Rascal not to bite so hard or so much? Thanks.

Answer
Between the ferrets, the play is just fine.  Ferrets have thick skin on their neck specifically for this reason - at least it helps in these situations.  I am not sure from where you got Rascal, but if he has limited experience with people, he probably thinks you are a big ferret and plays accordingly - hard.  Yelp or make a noise like you are in pain (loudly) when he bites you and encourage less rough and tumble games when playing with humans.
