Question
Hello,
My names becc from australia.
My beautiful little girl Ellie just gave birth to her first litter!
She's doing so well, but just to make sure I want to give her some liver to keep her iron levels up!
She's a pet ferret so not sure if giving her uncooked liver will turn her violent, if i need to cook the livers how long do i cook it for?
If you could check this out and get me a response ASAP it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks again,
Becc. (and Ellie)

Answer
Hello Becc,

Congradulations on Ellie's first litter!  That is wonderful that she is doing so well.

A high quality ferret food should contain all of the vitamins and essential nutrients needed.  Iron suppliments help prevent anemia, but liver also contains fat soluable vitamins (such as vitamen A) which can be toxic if fed too much.  I am not sure if the high levels of these vitamins might harm the kits or Ellie. I would ask your vet about supplimenting her with liver just in case.
