Question
My ferret willow has gotten very sick, She was fine like two days ago. All of a sudden she wont move her eyes get clogged up with eye goo and they stay shut pretty much all the  time. I made up some mushed food by using hot water and kitten food and she has been opening her eyes a little more (after I clean them)and she has been drinking pedlialyte. She seems to be doing better but I just wanted to know if there is anything else that I can do. Besides going to the Vet!

Answer
Hi Caitlin:

Other than going to a vet?  Just keep her eyes clean with a warm wash cloth every few hours; keep fluids in her using a syringe without a needle if you have one, or an eyedropper, but know that this is NOT enough fluids to save your ferret's life.

If you refuse to take your ferret to a vet, possibly you would best spend some time digging a hole to bury your ferret in, because it doesn't sound like something it is going to come out of without for professional intervention.  I'm sorry to be so blunt, but that is what will happen if you don't get immediate VET advice from a FERRET VET AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.  Ferrets who have the symptoms you are describing often have less than 12 hours to live.

Here is a list of lists to find vets - just in case you change your mind and decide to help your little one. The least you could do is take her for a "mercy" shot to help her die without pain and misery.  Those are not expensive and your ferret would certainly thank you for having a bit of heart.
