Ferrit fighting with other ferret

Question
we have our ferret Mickey for almost 5 years I think, and Peanut for I think little over 2 years.  They have always got along..just in the past few day's I've had to separate as the older Ferret keeps attacking my younger one.  He really goes after him biting his ear without letting go to the point of bleeding.  This has never happened before, and now I can't even put them together because it keeps happening.  Do you know why my older Ferret might be doing this.
Thank you,
Patricia

Answer
Even though rough wrestling is perfectly normal among friendly ferret buddies, if yours is biting the other so hard as to cause bleeding, THAT is a huge concern. Any screaming, pooping, or bleeding is bad during play. If this new behavior is sudden, there could most likely be an underlying health issue. He is probably in pain and lashes out at his friend for no reason. You need to take him to your vet to rule out any possibilities. It could be Adrenal Disease, which causes aggression in ferrets and usually appears in older ferrets. This disease is totally treatable but you need to diagnose whatever is wrong with your ferret soon.
