Question
Dear Ailigh,

I own two very cute, wonderful ferrets, but I have been having a problem with them pooping/peeing anywhere they want to. I have tried corner litter boxes, but they play in the litter, then poop outside the litter box. Any simple advice to get them to go in thier cage or in the litter box? Thank you!

Sincerely, Kristina

I a word, no.  Nothing simple.  Usually ferrets won't go on fabric like a towel or their bedding but that isn't always the case either!  You could try different litter (we use Pa-purr) making sure it ia safe for ferrets (newspaper based non clumping and not dusty).  Even newspaper can work because it is hard to play in it.  You can also try leaving a bit of poop in their box to remind them what it is for.
If all else fails, try blocking the places they usually go and force them to one area, then place a litter box there.  I have often said I should cover the whole basement floor with litter to ensure they use it!
