SHEDING

HI MY BUDDY PONGO IS 4 YEARS OLD I ADOPTED HIM 4 WEEKS AGO AND HE IS AWESOME! ONE QUESTION DO FERRETS SHED? HES LOSING HAIR THE LAST WEEK OR SO. I TOOK HIM SHOPPING WITH ME TO PETSMART AND WAS LITERALLY COVERED IN FERRET FUR. HE SEEMS TO LOVE GOING ON WALKS WITH ME AND HE IS VERY PAMPERED BUT MY COAT AND CAR ARE COVERED IN FUR WHAT SHOULD I DO? IVE BEEN BRUSHING HIM AND CLUMPS ARE COMING OUT I DONT SEE ANY BALD SPOTS! JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE MY BABY IS OK  THANKS

It really depends how he is loosing hair.  If it is a general shed type hair loss then it is possible it is stress or excitement.  Our ferrets shed a bit when we take them places.  They can also shed in the spring.  All normal.  Now, if he is missing hair on his tail or it is balding in places then he may have Adrenal disease which requires a surgery from a ferret knowledgable vet.  Look up adrenal disease online and some sites have pictures so you can see what that hair loss looks like.
