Answer
Hello!
you have asked some good questions about ferrets!

How big should a cage be for one?
the cage should be big enough to house the litter pan, food bowls and sleeping area. If the ferret will be in the cage alot, then I would say a two story cage is best.

Would a single ferret be happy?
Yes they are happy alone, or with a ferret friend if introduced in early life,. The reason ferrets do well with a ferret friend is so they have a " wrestle buddy". But one is just as happy alone if given alot of attention.
A ferret that has been alone for a few years may not take kindly to a new ferret. So If you want multiples, then do it early.

Whats there avrage life span?
8-10 years

Do they offen get health problems? what kind of health problems?
If you pick a healthy kit, they should not have multiple health problems.
They can develop several diseases just as can any other type of pet, but if you keep them vaccinated, and healthy, they are not PRONE to getting ill.
I would recommend a book called " Ferrets for Dummies" if you have never own one, it is very informative.
good luck, I hope this helps!
