Question
I really want a ferret but those big cages are so roomy! can I get a smaller cage and have the ferret mostly out of the cage? and are ferrets good with other pets : hamsters, dogs , fish?

Answer
Hello,
I am glad to hear you are interested in getting a new fuzzy. You can use a smaller cage, ie: a one or two story cage, but you have to make sure there is enough room for food bowls, hammock or bed to sleep in and a litter box. IMO the smallest you want to go with is a two story.
Be sure to buy a "ferret" cage... not a crate, or a rabbit hutch, or any other type cage b/c ferrets are escape artists, and can get out of alot of types of cages, or may get hurt trying.
Ferrets are good with other animals, in my opinion, the same way cats are. I wouldnt recommend small rodent type pets. Dogs and cats get along well with ferrets,
( My Aussies love mine) but large dogs have to be taught to be gentle. Ferrets love to " rough and tumble" so cats very ofter will be annoyed by an active ferret. But alot of cats like them alot!
But, of course, ideally the best friend for a ferret is another ferret! :o)
I hope this helps, and good luck!
