Question
hi jacquie,
i used to have 3 ferrets in a superpet 3 story cage with slides and tubes but currently i added 2 more to my family and i now have the ferret nation model 142.. i was wondering if that is a big enough cage for the 5 of them..i let them out everyday for about 4-5 hours and they roam around in their tube filled play pen. but do you think the ferret nation is big enough for all 5 of them?

Answer
Hi Kristy:

Yes, the Ferret Nation 142 is a great cage for five ferrets.  The only thing you might want to do is put two litterboxes in, as they fill up pretty fast with five little rug rats using them; and also have at least five different sleep places in case they want their own sleeping accommodations. If you see that they all like to sleep piled up, then at least two other sleeping places AND one huge hammock or bed would be great.  Much of this you will have to decide what is best for them based on what you observe.  I would recommend both a water bottle  AND a water bowl - with fresh water in the bowl twice a day.  Either a wide food dish so all can eat at once, or two dishes so nobody gets left out if they all decide to eat at once.  Other than that, you have a wonderful cage and it sounds like your kids get out often enough to be happy and healthy.

Sincerely,

Jacquie Rodgers
