ferret hair loss

i have two ferrets who are both experiencing hair loss, not just shedding, but so much hair loss that they look bald on their bodies.

Hi Adell,

What your ferrets are most likely suffering from is Adrenal Disease. Almost 100% of ferrets over the age of 3 will get adrenal disease (that's my own thoughts, not hard fact) whether they exhibit the symptoms or not. Symptoms include (primarily) hair loss, excessive itching, pot belly, muscle wasting and vulvar swelling in females, prostate swelling in males which can block their ability to urinate normally or block them completely. Ferrets can exhibit some, none or all of these symptoms but hair loss is a big and most frequent one. Go to http://miamiferret.org/fhc/ to get all your info on the disease.
