Question
Hi I read in one of your previous answers you feed your ferrets dehydrated chicken, and was wondering what brands are ok and
where I could maybe find it. I don't my babies any ferret treats since I don't really trust them so I like your idea!
I did some research and found some items that I would like your opinion on before I think about feeding them. Here are a few of
them:
-Halo Liv-A-Littles Protein Treats (freeze dried)
            All natural
No artificial preservatives, color, or flavors
            Healthy high protein              (snackhttp://www.petco.com/product/105062/Halo-Liv-A-Littles-Protein-Treats.aspx)

-Quackers Natural Duck Dog Treats
            100% natural breast of duck
Low in fat, high in protein
            Contains no additives or preservatives
Great alternative to beef jerky that may cause allergies to your pet

-Beefeaters Freeze-Dried Liver Treats
Chicken Flavor: 100% Freeze Dried Chicken Liver.
Beef Flavor: 100% Freeze Dried Beef Liver.
Lamb: 100% Freeze Dried Lamb Liver.

Im thinking since they are all freeze dried and all natural animal meat that they should be a decent choice for a treat, I just want
to make sure though.

Thanks
Cristina

Answer
Hello Christina!  Yes, any of those treats would be fine.  I've tried several different types of all natural including beef, duck, etc and my guys don't have a taste for them.  They just turn up their nose!  It took my adopted girl a while to like the chicken ones, but now those are her absolute favorite!

My favorite brand can be found at Agway or specialty pet food stores.  It is the Dogswell flaxseed and vitamin.  There are several varieties, but this is the one that seems most palatable.

Features:

For Eyes, Skin and Coat with Vitamins A and E
Made with All Natural Chicken
No Hormones, No Antibiotics, No Fillers, No Flour, No Corn, No Soy, No Wheat
Digestible, Rich in Protein, Low in Fat

Ingredients: Chicken Breast, Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin A Acetate.

They seem to really like this, although it can be a bit difficult to find.

The easier brand to purcase is the 100 percent all natural chicken treats at petco or almost any other pet store.  The particular type I give is "Chicken Buddies" which can be found in the dog treat section.

http://www.petco.com/product/100394/Chicken-Buddies-Natural-Chicken-Strips.aspx

It has: Crude Protein 60.0% min., Crude Fat 2.0% max., Crude Fiber 0.2% max., Moisture 16.0% max.  The ingredients are chicken breast and 1 percent salt, which is minimal.

Another treat that may sound a bit odd is meal worms.  I have a hedgehog whose food I supplement with various small insect-worm creatures and my ferrets cannot get enough of the live meal worms!   You can get them at Petco/most pet stores or order them online, and they are a perfectly healthy snack full of protein!
