Question
Hello Tara,
I just adopted a female, 1 year old ferret. I want to know what vaccines a ferret needs and how often for each one. Also, what is ADV and how does one get their ferret tested? (I hope I used the right letters) We have only had Snowy for 5 days and already love her dearly and want to take the best care of her possible.

Answer
Hello, Congrats on your new ferret.

You will want her to have a baby seris this is made up of three to four vaccines in her first year 3 to 4 weeks apart. Distemper shots will be recomended and given 3to 4 weeks apart and a rabies when shes 4 months old. I know there is a illness called adrenal diesese or something along those lines but it normaly shows up in older ferrets.
