Question
Hello,
I have a 6 year old ferret who recently under went surgery to get a tumor removed from his neck.  He had it for 1 1/2 years and it became extremely large and red so the vet said it should be removed to find out what it is.  The surgery was successful and he is recovering well from it.  However, the doctor called today saying that pathologist reported it as a cancerours tumor so now the doctor said he would like to start injections of something (a holistic threapry that he does for cats).  What should I do?  Does a cancer mass cell tumor mean that my ferret has cancer???  Will it reoccur if i don't go with these injections?  My ferret is happy and healthy right now....i don't wanna hurt or hinder his time here with injections if it will make him less comfortable or sick.  What do you recommend?  Should i just not do nothing until he shows signs of sickness????  Please help me with this decision.

Answer
Hi Marcy:

The best suggestion I could give you right now is to call your vet back and get these questions answered.  Since I didn't hear the call from the vet, it would be silly for me to try to guess what he is recommending or if it is something that will make the ferret feel ill.

You may have to make an appointment so you vet can spend a bit more time with you and explain what he is recommending and answer your questions.

Best of luck - I hope you will get back in touch with that vet soon; a diagnosis of cancer is one that can be very time-critical.
