Question
Hi, I was wondering about my ferret's shedding. She has been shedding for about 2 months now, and I am getting concerned. I asked a question to somebody earlier and they told me that if she is balding it is bad. I wasn't sure what balding was, but when I saw my ferret's underside today, I saw some pink, I think the skin. Also when I gave her a bath today, the middle of her back and tail showed some skin too. I was wondering if that was considered balding? Please help, I am very worried. She has also been looking skinnier as well.

Answer
Yes, anytime a ferret's skin is showing through and/or the fur is really thinning out, it's considered balding. Balding can be pretty serious, it can be anything from a poor diet to stress to Adrenal Disease. You need to take her to a [ferret] vet and get her checked out to see what's wrong with her.
