Ferret&malteseXpoodle

Hello i am interested in adapting a ferret next year. I have a 4 year old MalteseXpoodle and would like to know what you think about this mix. I saw the dog whisperer which showed him introducing a small animal as part of the pack, but he held the dog he was training on its back till it calmed down. Do you recommend this approach?

I am not a fan of the Dog Whisperer, but small dogs are not ferrets.  I always recommend that a dog is not a playmate for a ferret or visa versa and the 2 should never be left unsupervised.  If the ferret is out for playtime, then the dog is either not in the room or very closley supervised.  Either one could get hurt.
