my ferrets (Yawnie) eating habits

Question
I know my question is very similar to those asked already but having my own answer would make me feel more comfortable. My 6 month old ferret and my 4 month kitten love playing together and recently, enjoy eating together. I know some say that cat food can be given as a treat to ferrets, but she just loves digging into my kittens food, and my kitten into my ferrets food. I recently decided to try putting a small food bowl down that had a 50/50 mix of kitten to ferret kibble and they have been chowing down. Is this okay? Can both of them have that mix? I found it a little odd that my kitten would like the taste of ferret food, but they still eat their own kibble as well. I just want to be sure its okay for both of them to enjoy the mix together.

Answer
If you are feeding a high quality ferret food (Pretty Pets, Zupreem grain free etc) then they are probably fine sharing.  Also if you are feeding a high quality kitten food the same is true.  My concern is as the cats get older the ferret food will be too high in fat for them and since ferrets needs to be "free fed" that will also be a problem for weight gain in the cat.
