hie, i would like to have a ferret in a month or two. im from malaysia and it is near impossible to get their suplement in the pet store. currently, all breeders from malaysia have to import it from u.s.well,after several reading, i knew that the cat supplement linatone, cn be used also. what other supplement can be used? and what type of litter do you used for your ferret? about the distemper virus, it is what i scared the most. beside purevax, can dog vaccine be used on them?i will be gld if u can share with me your ferret routine and care..thank you..

I personally do not use supplements because I feed my ferrets a high quality food; supplements are good to use but are not necessary. So I can't tell you what to use or what not to use in regards to that.

For litter I use ordinary cat litter that is has no dust and is NON clumping. This is very important; if bits of litter are stuck on the ferret's paws and they lick their paws and swallow the litter, the litter will be activated by the moisture and swell up inside the ferret causing blockage. Ordinary, non clumping litter doesn't do this so it's safe to use. Other people also use newspaper or pellets; pretty much anything except wood shavings is acceptable.

As for vaccines go, NEVER EVER use anything except vaccines specifically made for ferrets. Even cat vaccines can kill a ferret. So do not use a dog vaccine.
