Question
I had a wonderful response and experience with J. Rodgers last year and just wanted to let someone know that my Zorro has been diagnosed with Insulinoma. he just turned 7 years old, he has been so great after his adrenal gland surgery and I have had a great year with him, the support from this website is incredible. The vet is treating him with prednisone and told me we are looking at quality versus quantity of life now. He is just a little wobbly today so I hope I can buy enough time with him to walk in the spring again. I know it is just a matter of time but want to take lots of pictures and not take any time for granted. I was afraid to come home from work tonight and find him gone, I hope I will be brave enough when the time comes to send him on his journey in a peaceful and loving way. That is what is the hardest for me, when will I know that the time has come? Will it be best to be with them at the end or will it be too difficult?

Answer
I have had ferrets last 1-2 years treated with Pred (just keep upping the dose per vet instructions) and additional feedings of a/d.  When the time comes, the additional food will be next to impossible to get him to eat and there isn't enough pred to stop the seizures etc.
